Breakfast is Over; Kashi Leaving La Jolla

The Kellogg Co.'s brand will reportedly lay off more than two dozen employees at Kashi in La Jolla.

Kashi Co. will lay off 28 employees at its headquarters in La Jolla, according to The Daily Transcript. The daily business publication said the cereal company will move most of its business activity to its parent company's headquarters in Battle Creek, Mich.

A spokesperson with Kellogg, who acquired Kashi in 2000, told The Daily Transcript that moving to Battle Creek wil better position Kashi for continued growth.

The paper added that Kashi "will retain a small satellite office in La Jolla, with 12 employees continuing to work from there or from sales offices around the United States."
